How to deal with the feeling of detachment in every day life ?
Posted by divya bajpai on October 14, 2024 at 5:27 pmRecently , I’ve started observing people around me as energies roaming around , even the flies or animals .
and i feel so amazed about it that all the souls around us have forgotten their destination ?
due to this sometimes I am not able enjoy being in anyone’s company like even friends or family members .
i stay in their happy or sad moments together but its like neither i am jumping out of excitement in anything nor crying for any loss .
its totally a feelingless feel .. which can’t be put into words .
how to deal with this detachment feeling ?

Hare Krishna!
Detachment to material objects and relationships of this material world ARE NOT SO IMPORTANT AS DEVELOPING AN ATTACHMENT TO KRSNA AND PERFORMING DEVOTIONAL SERVICE TO KRSNA!!
If the so called detachment is making one indifferent, then thats not real or prescribed detachment or vairagya. for bhakti yogi. Rupa Goswami said that as devotees we need to practice yukta vairagya – deatchment to material objects means not artificial renunication of our attachment to material objects or feelings for our relatives/ friends, but rather dovetailing them in service to Krsna…. anasakasya visayam yatharham upayunjate nirbandha krsna sambandhe yukta vairagyam ucyate
how to do it – Krsna gives the formula – visaya vinivartante niraharasya dehinaha rasa varjam rasopyasya PARAM DRSTVA NIVARTATE – by experiencing a higher taste of performing devotional service, one’s taste fo rmaterial objects/ relationship fade away and not the other way around…this is my limited understanding based on what I have heard from my Gurus…. hope this helps in some way
Kind Regards, pamho
Yours in service
Medhavini Sakhi Devi Dasi
Thanks Mata ji 🙏🏻🦚
Hare Krisha Prabhuji, Mataji, Dandavat Pranam,
I am not qualified to answer this question, but trying to share my humble understanding, of the word Detachment, which has a different context depending on which platform we understand and act upon it.
A) De-attachment –
Material Level of UnderstandingAction: <b style=”background-color: var(–bb-content-background-color); font-size: inherit; color: var(–bb-body-text-color);”>Giving up all material things, primarily extended-self things like wealth, relationships, residence, position, name, job and the foremost duty also.
Attitude: We usually don’t care what would be the fate of the material things that one has given up. This is more like irresponsible behaviour.
End-Result: Practicing Detachment at the Material level of understanding, one gets loneliness towards the end. So, to pacify oneself, he may look for association with the public through imparting his so-called acquired realization with the general public or do social service.
Final Realization: Usually, there is no turning back for him to come back to Material life but it leads him to frustration and to further darkness and ignorance.
B) De-attachment – Spiritual Level of Understanding (Krishna Consciousness) i.e. we are Soul and not the Body.
Action:
Engaging all material things in fulfilling the mission of Guru and in the service of Lord Sri Krsna only. At the initial level, Detachment is practised by engaging wealth, relationships, residence, position, name, job as well as one’s duty in the service of Lord Sri Krsna.
Attitude:
We don’t give up anything material but we in fact take utmost care to engage them in the service of Lord Sri Krsna. This act is very Responsible behaviour. One works in the mood of care/of only.
End-Result:
Practicing Detachment at Spiritual level (Krishna Consciousness) and as practice matures, this will one day culminate into one important realization on Isavasyam principle. All Animate and Inanimate matter, belongs to the Absolute Truth, Lord Sri Krsna and We only should accept only our quota.
Final Realization:
One may realize, that there was, in fact, no Detachment that we were practicing, but all this time, we were practicing Attachment to Lord Sri Krsna, i.e. Bhakti.
As our practice further matures, we realize that our False Ego itself doesn’t belong to us which we hold on it so dearly, and probably that’s the time we actually surrender ourselves to the Lord’s feet.
We would realize one day our Real Constitutional position – that we are Eternal servant of Lord Sri Krsna and we all will go back home, back to Godhead.
I sincerely apologize if my understanding is not correct, Prabhuji , Mataji.
Ys,
Ravindra
Thank you so much Prabhu ji for stating this so clearly 🙏🏻🦚
